General Dentistry

At Southeast Smiles, we believe the health of your mouth and teeth contributes to your body’s overall well-being. A daily regimen of brushing and flossing is necessary to keep your smile looking its best and visiting your local dentist for an exam and teeth cleaning is an important part of this routine. The American Dental Association recommends that you visit your dentist every six months to help ensure your teeth stay healthy and your smile stays beautiful for years to come.

Cleaning and Exam

Our highly trained and experienced hygienists at Southeast Smiles carefully clean your teeth with a variety of dental tools to remove any tartar from your teeth followed by flossing and ending with a polishing compound and fluoride application. A full periodontal evaluation with gum measurements is performed to assess whether your gums are healthy or inflamed due to periodontal disease (gum disease) that results in bone loss.

Dr. Panchal begins your oral exam by inspecting your teeth to evaluate the condition of your existing dental work and determine whether you have any cavities. He will also review x-rays to see what is happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums, which will help determine the extent of your dental issues not visible to the naked eye.

Cleanings are a routine procedure recommended at least twice a year or more if you are diagnosed with periodontal disease. If Dr. Panchal finds tooth decay or gum disease, he will discuss ways to improve your brushing or flossing habits. In severe cases, he may recommend further dental treatments.

By routinely seeing your dentist for dental exams & cleanings you can:

  • Prevent Tooth Decay, Bad Breath & Gum Disease
  • Avoid Costly & Painful Dental Procedures
  • Keep Your Teeth Whiter
  • Have A Smile That Will Last A Lifetime

Sealants

Dental sealants are a protective coating that seal the grooves and crevices, typically for pre-molars and molars.  The sealants create a shield to protect your teeth from decay caused by food and plaque.  Our experienced providers may recommend sealants for children and teenagers, especially as their adult teeth come in.  It is a quick and painless application that will defend your teeth for years to come!

Solea® Sleep

What is the Solea® Sleep?

Solea® Sleep is a non-invasive laser treatment that will improve the quality of sleep by gently tightening tissue in your soft palate and reducing vibrations that cause you to snore.  Unlike surgical procedures that require incisions, stiches, and long recoveries, Solea Sleep is a non-surgical laser treatment with no recovery time and immediate relief.

Why is Solea® Sleep important?

67% of adults snore – which means a large part of a general dentist’s patient population snores.  Snoring can affect all aspects of a patient’s life, including their health and relationships.  Until Solea Sleep, patients’ options were limited.

Snoring can dramatically affect the quantity and quality of a person’s sleep.  Restful sleep is essential for both physical and mental health, and even contributes to an improved immune system.  Poor sleep can negatively affect a person’s moods, concentration, and stress levels.  Poor sleep can also raise the risk for some chronic health problems, including diabetes, depression, and heart disease.

Snoring also has negative effects on personal relationships.  The non-snoring partner often feels frustrated and angry that their loved one is keeping them from a good night’s sleep, and couples can end up sleeping in different bedrooms.

Solea Sleep allows dentists to offer a fast, painless, single-session solution for patients who snore with long-lasting results, leading to more restful sleep for both the patient and their partner.

How does Solea® Sleep work?

Solea Sleep provides rapid relief for snoring by tightening the soft palate and reducing vibrations that cause patients to snore.  Laser energy disrupts the cross-linking of collagen fibers in the tissue layers of the soft palate, causing collagen to contract and increasing the stiffness of the tissue.  Cells and collagen, now in closer proximity, may also form new connections that further increase tissue stiffness over time.  By tightening these tissue layers, Solea Sleep reduces the vibrations that cause patients to snore.

The penetration depth of Solea in soft tissue makes all the difference.  Solea efficiently delivers energy to deeper tissue layers that contain high concentrations of collagen without ablating superficial tissue layers.  The tissue is gently warmed at the perfect depth in the soft palate, resulting in rapid contraction and instant results.

Inlays/Onlays

Inlays and Onlays are ceramic/porcelain or even special dental composite used for a longer lasting restoration for larger areas of decay. If your cavities are too large to complete a traditional tooth colored filling or if you need to replace an old filling, Dr. Panchal may discuss either an inlay or onlay to improve the strength of the tooth and help seal it from further decay.

Crowns and Bridges

Dr. Panchal can create same day beautiful crowns using CEREC technology. Crowns (also knowns as “caps”) provide restorations for cosmetic, decayed, broken, or missing teeth. If you have more than one tooth in an area, Dr. Panchal can also discuss the option of a bridge to restore your smile. Both crowns and bridges can help you regain proper function, oral health, and aesthetics of your teeth.
